Description of the Flag

HDP was founded on 1 July 2003 in Quetta to represent the some 600,000 Hazara people living in Balochistan (Pakistan). The founder and chairman of the party Hussain Ali Yousofi was murdered on 26 January 2009 in Quetta; he was succeeded by Abdul Khaliq Hazara. The flag of HDP is horizontally divided green-yellow with a red stripe placed along the hoist, charged with the white letters "HDP" arranged vertically, and a white star placed in the middle of the green stripe.

Red, green and yellow are also the colors of the flag of the Balochistan National Party (Mengal).

Hazaras are a community of Shia Muslims of Turkic and Mongolic origin who live in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They were massacred by the Taliban and some now live abroad. This is a political document issued in Pakistan. And as you see, they have a website: http://www.hdp.org.pk. It displays the same symbols plus the flag of the Hazara Students Federation.

Hazara Students Federation is now the youth wing of the party, although it predated it, being active since 1978. Hussain Ali Yousofi presided HSF (and probably founded it, too) in 1978-1985. The flag of HSF is yellow with a red stripe placed along the hoist, charged with the white letters "HSF" arranged vertically, and a green book placed in the middle of the yellow stripe.
